WASHINGTON — Members of the U.S. House of Representatives considered lobbying reforms Thursday — just hours after Republicans and Democrats rancorously split over a politically charged vote to bring convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff to Capitol Hill for questioning.
Republicans said the ethics investigation vote, which was pushed by Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., was a political stunt. Democrats said the vote proved that Republicans are not serious about cleaning up Congress.
