New Program Promises Drug-Free ADHD Solution

As many as 7% of all American kids have ADHD. It’s a disorder that affects learning, social skills, even a child’s happiness.

Now that there are questions surrounding the long term effects of drugs like Ritalin, many parents are desperate for an alternative.

Christine Robinson of Boxboro believes she found that alternative for her son, Matthew.

The 8-year-old second grader was diagnosed last year with ADHD. “Things were harder for him,” says Christine. “He absolutely struggled.”

But now she says that’s all changed. “He has a lot more friends, he just seems a lot happier.”

Matthew is enrolled in the Dore Achievement Center in Needham. It's a cutting edge program that offers parents an alternative to drugs like Ritalin. Instead of taking a pill, Matthew does a series of balance and eye exercises to improve his focus and learning.

“His attention has improved dramatically,” says Christine.
